I walked in with a dead partially exploded laptop battery in a grocery produce bag. I approached an Apple associate and asked if they take batteries for recyling and handed them the bag after their affirmation. I proceeded to walk out but decided to look at their wares. The iWatch screens were too small to use. The tablets were all off but sprang to life with product details after tapping. The 3d goggles device AKA The Apple Vision Pro or as I like to call it, the iGoggles, were mounted to a poll. As soon as I reached out to try and pick them up an associates voice asked if I wanted a tour and that the display was permanently mounted.
I agreed to a tour. The guy wipped out a tablet and said he would make a reservation on my behalf. He entered my name and email into a web form. He then switched to a phone and verified that he's ready for me now and walked me to the corner. He asked about my glasses and used a machine to determine their prescription. A while later another associate came with the actual goggles with the lenses installed that matched my prescription.
After pairing with a tablet with a dead battery then another tablet, he explained how to wear the device and adjust the straps and where the two button controls were. I donned the headset. It initially took me through a configuration processess that allowed it to determine my eye focus. Pointing and clicking is done by looking and pinching your fingers.
He first guided me to the photos app where I was able to open folders, view images, and navigate around them. He focused on the 3d imags with paralax to demonstrate value of 3d goggles. The interface was minimal so I was able to see reality most of the time including the asociate. His tablet mirrored my view so he was able to help me when needed. The second app was a night time constelation viewer. It took over the entire display so I was immersed under the stars during the night. 3d depictions of the constellations were dragable and presented textual informtion about them. It demonstrated the spacial interaction of virtual objects beyond the expected 2d interaction.
The third app was a virtual DJ turntable.
