So here are my thoughts on FB and the world: Most of us aren't swayed by idiots from the interwebs. We have normal brains that think for itself which manifests as reasonably proactive people. Younglings and those who never mentally matured are the ones easily manipulated by external forces. I claim that it is on our education system, which guarantees a surplus colony of easily manipulated drones, is the issue. It's always been this way actually even before the internet. It's just that the natural progression of unchecked monopolies has once again distilled and formed a small handful of companies/entities that have cornered the worldwide market over underdeveloped people manipulation that was once in the hands of a select local few. In the past it was just churches, military, and witch-doctors and soothsayers. Now there's no competition against the few machines that are able to perform the same questionable manipulative rolls while extracting many times the profit in such little time and super efficiency. They can only get stronger. The solution is a different education system that hasn't squelched critical thinking over rote memorization and conformity. Unfortunately that won't realize any profit or gains for the current generations. There will never be such an investment in our future. What generation would sacrifice themselves so the next one will thrive? Who/what would invest in something that guarantees to destroy itself. The people don't want it and won't allow it....both manipulated and un-manipulated. There will always be a Facebook. To focus on that is pointless. As a society, we should take "learn from our mistakes" at heart, sooner than later.
